Two intercultural parades at once initiated and organized by the Altona district cultural center HausDrei promise a firework for eyes and ears. Saturday evening the Night parade softens the prelude. World class costume designers cover the road with stilts, fire, light, masks and iridescent color games, accompanies from roaring sounds of international brass bands, shrilly costumed Guggen and samba groups. And, again and again, it also will flare up: on the edge, in the height or right in the middle of the spectacle.
All of them and another couple of more small and tall street artists of international and local rank on Sunday form up in the bright September light for the STAMP parade, the successor of the Altona Fun Parade established in 1999. Hamburg's oldest, most colorfull and greatest multi kulti move is marked of local as an international participation. Already months before groups from 9 federal states and more than a dozen European, American and African states have announced themselves to this. More than 1,500 street artists perform high valued mobile street art in a range this wide never to be seen elsewhere. For several hours they will occupy the public space in front of the jury and tens of thousands of spectators. The final prize giving ceremony will be held around 4 pm on Bruno-Tesch-Platz.
